What is Pump.fun?
Pump.fun is a website for launching and trading memecoins on the Solana blockchain. Anyone can create a token in a few clicks, and anyone with a Solana wallet can buy or sell it right away.
The short version
- Launched in January 2024 on Solana.
- Creating a coin needs no coding: a name, ticker, image and description.
- New coins trade on a bonding curve: an automatic price formula where the price rises as people buy and falls as they sell.
- When enough of the curve is bought, the coin graduates and moves to a regular trading pool (today Pump.fun’s own PumpSwap; earlier coins moved to Raydium).
How a coin’s life works
- Launch. A creator makes the coin. There is no pre-sale; everyone buys from the same curve.
- Bonding curve. Early buyers pay less, later buyers pay more. Selling pushes the price back down.
- Graduation. Once the curve fills, liquidity moves to a trading pool and the price is set by normal market trading.
Why people use it
It’s the fastest way to launch or catch a brand-new memecoin early. That speed is also why it’s so risky.
The risks, honestly
- Most new coins lose most or all of their value.
- Creators and early wallets can sell large amounts at once.
- Prices move in seconds; slippage and network fees add up.
Only trade what you can afford to lose. This guide is information, not financial advice.
Pump.fun vs Terminal
Pump.fun is where coins are created. Terminal (formerly Padre) is a separate trading app many traders use to buy and sell those coins faster. The cashback offer below belongs to Terminal, not Pump.fun.
